Sharp LC52D62U

From the Manufacturer The AQUOS LC-52D62U sets a new standard for large-screen flat-panel TVs. With Full HD Spec 1080p resolution, dramatically enhanced black level and an elegant new design, it produces a breathtaking picture quality that is second to none. The AQUOS LC-52D62U utilizes the next generation of Sharp’s proprietary Advanced Super View/Black TFT Panel with multi-pixel technology, providing a native 2000:1 Contrast Ratio and a Dynamic Contrast Ratio of 10,000:1 with Enhanced Picture Contrast Technology, 4ms response time and wide viewing angles (176º H x 176º V). The AQUOS LC-52D62U has built-in ATSC / QAM / NTSC tuners and includes 2 HDMI inputs, is compatible with 1080p signals, and has 2 HD component video inputs. The AQUOS LC-52D62U features a sleek piano black cabinet with subtle, recessed bottom-mounted speakers, and the included table stand easily removes for wall mounting applications.

The newest AQUOS series feature a next-generation Advanced Super View LCD panel that delivers full HD 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution for the fastest response rates and highest contrast ratio for the sharpest possible picture.

Full HD Resolution
Simply put, nothing competes to the AQUOS 1080p full high definition experience. You enjoy HDTV in its purest, most exhilarating form. True 16:9 widescreen provides a cinematic experience optimized for your natural line of sight. And AQUOS 1080p delivers twice the digital and double resolution of 720p HDTV.

Resolution describes the number of pixels on a digital television screen. More pixels give the picture more lifelike detail. Higher pixel density provides added clarity for digital TV, DVD, and HDTV. This fine resolution means you can view the large screen even from a close distance. For example, you can comfortably view a 45-inch screen from about 5.6-feet away.

AQUOS Liquid Crystal Televisions deliver very high resolutions for a clear, smoother picture. Our widescreen models meet the highest standards for HDTV viewing and provide a true 16:9 aspect ratio. With stunning resolutions up to 1920 x 1080, they capture the full excitement and intensity of high definition.

Contrast and Brightness
Sharp's D62U series of liquid crystal Televisions offer the industry's highest native contrast ratio of 2,000:1 and highest dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1. With these superior contrast levels, you can enjoy a quality viewing experience in any viewing environment. Sharp's new proprietary Advanced Superior View/Black TFT Panel decreases color shift, enabling a high native contrast ratio of 2,000:1. Native contrast is the contrast within one image frame. Sharp's new proprietary Enhanced Picture Contrast technology results in a dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000:1. Dynamic contrast is the contrast between the lightest and darkest colors AQUOS can display. Enhanced picture Contrast detects the black level characteristics of the image source and dynamically adjusts the backlighting accordingly to display deeper blacks.

Four Spectrum Color:
Sharp has added a deep crimson to the three standard primary colors of blue green and red on all AQUOS models. This four-wavelength backlight beautifully reproduces all the varied skin tones, making people's skin look fresher and more lively, and objects such as red wine look deeper and riper. This is only possible by broadening the color range.

Glare reduction:
AQUOS Liquid Crystal Televisions feature a low-reflection Black TFT panel that reduces the glare of ambient light, no matter where the light is coming from or how much light is present in the room. Even in a bright, sunlit room, AQUOS glare reduction ensures crisp images.

Fluid Motion:
AQUOS technology has improved its response time to 4ms, #1 in the industry for Liquid Crystal TV, and compatible with CRT technology. With less residual image on screen, AQUOS is perfect for watching fast-moving images such as sports, movies with subtitles, video games, and action movies.

Black is back. And better than ever.
In a world where color trends come and go, Sharp is excited to introduce its new contemporary classic—the D62U Series. With screen sizes of 42-, 46- and 52-inches, the D62U Series offers the most elegant, cutting-edge flat panel televisions available. This series sets new standards in HDTV style and innovation, with a striking piano black finish, subtly recessed speakers, brilliant color reproduction and spectacular picture quality. In addition to providing a high contrast ratio, the newest AQUOS® series includes a next-generation Advanced Super View LCD panel that delivers 1080p full spec HD (1920 x 1080) resolution for the sharpest possible picture. Plus, its Multi-Pixel Technology* significantly improves color reproduction at virtually every viewing angle. The dual HDMI™ inputs are compatible with 1080p sources such as Blu-ray™ players. All of this means that, through the AQUOS, there is always more to see.

AQUOS Advanced Technology
Great style and performance do not just happen. It takes a commitment to quality, an incredibly talented team of professionals and a vision for innovation. Sharp, a global leader in Liquid Crystal Televisions year after year, brings all of this and more to our technology, continually raising the bar for outstanding quality and high performance.

  • Multi-Pixel Technology: By dividing each pixel into two sections and developing an advanced driving system, Sharp’s new Multi-Pixel Technology delivers more natural and accurate color reproduction when viewing the screen from virtually any angle. This technology improves extreme-angle viewing by approximately 60 percent.
  • Next-Generation Advanced Super View LCD Panel: The purest whites. The deepest blacks. The most vivid range of color. That’s what comes with Sharp’s innovative LCD panel technology. The panel uses an enhanced color filter that allows greater light transmission—providing a greater native contrast ratio of up to 2000:1 and a response time as quick as 4ms for true film-like smoothness. This means richer color and a more accurate, more brilliant depiction of the world on screen.
  • Four-Wavelength Backlight System: The conventional three-wavelength red, green and blue LCD backlight just got better. Sharp has vastly improved natural color reproduction with the development of its four-wavelength backlight system, adding a remarkably vivid crimson red to the palette—and changing the way LCD TV is viewed. The LC-57D90U takes the technology a step further with a five-wavelength backlight system, adding an even deeper green. With Sharp, the color possibilities are endless.

The most advanced facility for the integrated manufacture of LCD TVs.
The Sharp Liquid Crystal Television plant in Kameyama, Japan, represents the ultimate example of economic efficiency, social mindedness and environmental conservation. Combining Sharp’s vast experience and knowledge in R&D and mass production, including 50 years of TV and 30 years of LCD production, the Sharp Kameyama plant is a world-class facility for the manufacture and assembly of LCD panels.

Continuing its leadership, Sharp will open a second plant at Kameyama in October 2006. This will be the world’s first facility to adopt 8th generation glass substrates, which are roughly twice as large as the substrates used in the number one plant. Plant number two is specially designed for the production of glass for LC-TV screen sizes in the 40-inch through 50-inch range and will provide a steady supply of medium to large panels to respond to the growing worldwide demand for digital and high definition compatible flat panel televisions.

The most advanced technology to minimize environmental impact
The Kameyama plant was designed as a "Super Green Factory." A cogeneration system and a photovoltaic power generation system supply the plant with approximately one-third of its energy needs. Combined with a waste-heat recovery system that transforms waste heat into air conditioning, Sharp reduces CO2 emissions by 40 percent per year. In addition, the plant collects all the wastewater from the production process and recycles it using water purification technology. Via its Super Green Strategy, by the year 2010, Sharp plans to completely offset its production of greenhouse gas emissions by way of energy savings from new energy-efficient products and energy creation through the proliferation of Sharp solar cells.

Sharp LC52D62U HDTV Reviews

Sharp LC52D62U HDTV ReviewsAfter many nights of reading post here and running to bestbuy to check out the Sharp 52" LCD, I bit the bullet and picked up one yesterday. I did all the home work got the best price and went to bestbuy and they beat my best price. I ran home with my set and me and my brother set Sharp LC52D62U up and BANG..... I could not believe my eyes. I hooked up the HD cable and my new Sony upconvert dvd with HDMI cables and played with the set all night. I even used Video Essentials dvd to calibrate the colors. Now if all the suspense is killing you, now you see how I felt for the last two weeks. LOL.. Here is what Bang means:

The Picture is excellent

The colors are excellent

Everything works as the manual states.

The Price ($3150.00) + tax is right. I got 52" for what a 46" Sony cost and a good picture.

The blacks are excellent.

and now for the info you have been waiting for>>>>> Drum roll...

Serial number X611xxx did not have any banning. I used test screens that the Video Essentials dvd had and I used the service menu. The only way to get the 3 very faint bands is to turn the backlight and brightness and contrast all the way up while a grey screen was on. I am not calling anyone a liar but the set when watching tv or a movie is excellent. I would like to take this Video essentials dvd to bestbuy and run Sharp LC52D62U on a Sony XBR 3 and put the controls all they way up and see if I see bands? Gray sold color patterns are the only place you can see the bands. This message is for anyone on the fence, get the tv. It looks nice, it plays nice and move on with life. By the Way I do not work for sharp and If you are not happy take it back, mine is a keeper.

Sharp LC52D62U Reviews

Sharp LC52D62U ReviewsI have this tv now for more than a week, I tested LC52D62U with an xbox 360(gears of war), normal dvd player(not hd dvd player), and with standard cable. The xbox 360 with hd is most amazing thing I have ever seen, LC52D62U will blow your mind, the image quality is just breath taking. There is no signs of bands or any problems at all. Now for normal dvds the image quality is exelent even do is not hd, again no banding at all or any other problem. Now for the standard cable, the image was a lot better than I tought, the quality is not perfect but is very good, but if you want to get the most out of this tv, I recomend you to get hd cable, and a hd dvd player, after all thats the point of getting a hd tv.

I highly recomend this tv, it has the greatest quality for the best price, the 52 sony cost 2 thousand dollar more than the sharp and it has nothing better to offer.

LC52D62U Reviews

LC52D62U ReviewsAfter studying TV for sometime, including plasma, LCD and projection TV, I decided that Sharp 1080p LCD is the best choice. Sharp LC52D62U has great review by a lot of people as well as experts, Sharp LC52D62U also comes with the affordable price. It also looks great in your room. A Sony 1080p LCD with black frame will cost twice as much.
I use an upconvert DVD player with HDMI input set to "1080i", set TV view mode to "dot to dot". The display is sharp and clear with a good or decent movie DVD. A poor DVD will result with many small square dot on the screen.
All-in all, I am very satisfied with this TV.

New information. For those who wants to know if a 1080p TV will make the diffrence. Read the following:

I hooked up both HDMI and component cable to my 1080p TV, I pause the movie, then switching among all settings and here are my assessment:
There are differences among component at 480p, HDMI 480p, 720p and 1080i.
1. Color looked better at HDMI 480p then the component cable (which is 480p) but picture quality are the same
2. Picture quality is best at 1080i, then 720p, then 480p
3. For a good DVD, use 1080i or 720p, but a poor quality video shows better with component cable
4. A 4;3 video only shows correct aspect ratio only with 480p, but a wide screen video show correctly only with 720p or 1080i
Hope these helps

LC52D62U HDTV

LC52D62U HDTVAWESOME! Easy set up. Thorough instructions yet uncomplicated. NO VERTICAL COLOR BARS on this set like others I've read about. Great TV!

Sharp LC52D62U HDTV

Sharp LC52D62U HDTVVery pleased with the purchase of this TV...from the beautiful picture on the hi-def channels to the entire buying experience. Buying LC52D62U thru Amazon couldn't have been easier, prompt on-time delivery & removal of all packaging materials included. The picture is great on all channels but the hd channels really shine. Can't wait for the day that all channels will have to be hi-def. Highly recommend the Sharp Aquos lcd.

Sharp Aquos LC52D62U LCD HDTV Reviews

Sharp Aquos LC52D62U LCD HDTV ReviewsI have had this LCD set for a couple of weeks and all I have to say is the picture Sharp LC52D62U provides is pure eye candy. The colors are eye-popping, the pictures are sharp and the blacks are truly black, which provides a high degree of contrast in the picture. The sound Sharp LC52D62U provides is also quite good; however I prefer to have it hooked up to an amplifier with external 7.1 surround sound for a complete home theater experience.

I have used this LCD set with a regular DVD player, with the OPPO OPDV971H Digital Up-Converting DVD player, and with the Samsung BD-P1000 Blu-Ray disc player. The Samsung wins hands down because it makes regular DVD movies look almost as sharp as if they were in Blu-Ray format.

I also like the fact that this display is priced lower than other similar LCD displays from Samsung or Sony.

I looked around at the local electronic stores and they all offered next-day delivery if I purchased this item from them; however their prices were 10% to 15% higher than Amazon.com, especially because with Amazon.com there is no sales tax added to the final price when the item is delivered to CA and other States. So if you are patient and don't mind waiting for a couple of weeks to have this set delivered to your home and you have enough electronics savvy to set it up yourself, then save a few bucks and order this set from Amazon.com while you're thinking about it.

Sharp LC52D62U HDTV Reviews

Sharp LC52D62U HDTV ReviewsI have had the 52D62U for a few days now and LC52D62U is awesome.. I don't even have HD hook up yet.. just standard sat.

I have tried hard to see banding with standard color backgrounds and I just can't find any yet.. if they do exist, they aren't going to pose any problems for me since I can't even see them when I am trying very hard to find them. All I see is the best TV I have ever seen. I will keep looking for the bands but I doubt I will find anything, if I do find some I will write another review.

I am very happy with my purchase so far. Been watching some of my favorite movies over again on the new TV. Watched Willow first on the new TV :)

I got mine straight from Sharp through a discount program at my work delivered to me on Dec 8th. So perhaps I have a newer one and they have fixed the bands issue.

Sharp LC52D62U Reviews

I went to my local electronic store and knew what I wanted, a samsung LNS-5296D, 52"lcd, then I saw the Aquos, I came back home did my research and returned 2 days later to purchase Sharp LC52D62U. First off I got a great price for this big of an LCD $3,030 plus tax. This TV offers so much.

1. 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio, the highest available
2. 4ms response time, faster than others, the closest I found was the samsung at 8ms.
3. Easy set up and great to get out of the box.
4. My entire room looks and feels better with this TV in Sharp LC52D62U.
5 I do not yet have my HD direct TV receiver hooked up and the picture is unbeleivable, watching a dvd in 1080 you will see things on movies you have never seen before, I also have my xbox 360 hooked up in 1080p, its simply amazing.

I am still playing with the adjustments, which is very easy. This TV does offer an OPC? adjustment which automatically adjust the backlight for the lighting in the room, I howver turned that setting off as I felt it was too dark for my taste, but the option is there.
I have found no signs of banding, this TV is as good as it gets as far as I'm concerned. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recomend this tv for anyone looking for a great LCD tv.
UPDATE: January 8th, still no high def sat receiver apparently Direct TV is out of receivers. The picture clarity is as good as it can be trying to put a analog signal into a digital TV, I purchased a set of $40 High Def rabbit ears ant and was able to pick up alot of High Def channels and even at Mid 60's antenna strentgh the Crispness and clarity is unmatched of any other TV I looked at. I have been watching it alot and still no banding or any other problems. Also this TV does not show glare on the screen as someone else has indicated, he must have a spot light pointing at the TV. The only reason there is a glare on the picture I submitted is due to the camera flash.
UPDATE: February 9th, I finally got my direct tv HD dvr, after getting it set up, the PQ is simply amazing, on solid black screens or if you decide to go looking for them in the service menu, I do have slight horizontal and vertical banding, its not noticable while watching tv, I've heard of people going through 5 of these sets only to get one with worse banding so I'm keeping mine unless sharp comes up with a fix...In most cases if you dont go looking you will never see it. Its a great TV

LC52D62U Reviews

This is a 1080P 52" flat screen.

The Television arrived 2 days ahead of schedule from Amazon.com.

The shippeer even helped me unpacked the Flat screen.

The High Definition picture is great. There is no reflection on the screen so you can put LC52D62U anywhere.

This unit includes the digital HDTV decoder (QAM) so you

can hook right into you cable.

Dealing with Amazon is a pleasure.

[...]
The down side is deliver guys did't help me to put my TV on the table, the excuse is "the tv stand is not install yet, Sharp LC52D62U is not our job". I know most lcd or plasma TV come with stand already installed. I wish the deliver guys would help me install Sharp LC52D62U. This TV is big and heavy, don't try to move it by yourself.

Qualities:
1. Gosh, unbelieveable, I got more channels with this tv than my old analog TV. I am using Antenna and I got so many channels. Nice...
2. Sound is awesome, I feels like i have surround sound system but you still need sound system for Base, otherwise the stock speaker is already good. Can't complaint for the speaker! good job SHARP!
3. Banding problem? i don't have that. =) guys, when people got a problem, they always post it but when they don't have a problem, they never post anything. Don't worry too much about banding problem, this TV is great!
4. Analog channel? acceptable.. =) I am not a picky guy, for me it is good.
5. price? ow yeah.. $1000 cheaper than competitor brand. hehehe.. ^_^
